Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location submitted through a search tool passes directly to the outside provider operating that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems may receive routine technical information whenever a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- Your device's IP address
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- A referring website, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics services use them to understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Diagnosing and correcting technical faults
- Operating the site and improving load performance
- Understanding which pages are useful or need revision
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Lee County material identifies official custodians such as the sheriff, North Carolina courts, the State Bureau of Investigation's criminal-history repository, and the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry. Government access is governed by laws including the North Carolina Public Records Law and record-specific limits such as G.S. 132-1.4. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices, not this policy. Review those terms before running a search because we cannot control the provider's handling of data.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Lee County offices, North Carolina courts and agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this website, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may track activity across websites to select targeted ads. That activity occurs on their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers measuring performance and traffic
- Search providers processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving content on our pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for information in our possession. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina consumer-protection law, including G.S. 75-1.1, may provide rights or remedies depending on the facts and where you live. At a minimum, you may:
- Opt out of certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Request a copy of information held about you
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. Any revision will appear here with a new effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
